Pongal Celebrations at Sembawang RC

On 19 Jan 2025, we were delighted to celebrate the Tamil harvest festival of Pongal at Sembawang RC with our migrant worker community. A key highlight of the event was the traditional milk boiling ceremony, led by the amazing Dorm Mums and supported by Singapore Ministry of Manpower.

The word Pongal பொங்கல் means "overflow," and as the pot of milk boiled over, it beautifully symbolized prosperity, abundance, and good luck.

This celebration was a heartfelt reminder of unity and gratitude, honoring the spirit of togetherness during this joyous festival.
